Mangaluru: Seven college students arrested for ragging

Mangaluru: Eight students of a private college have been arrested on charges of ragging a first year student.

Police said on Friday that it has been alleged that the accused had asked the first year B.Pharma student to shave off his  head and  moustache. However, when he did not pay heed they had ragged him for five days continuously.

Those arrested are Jishnu (20), Srikanth (20), Ashwath (20), Sainath (22), Abhirath Rajeev (21), Rahul (21), Muktar Ali (19) and Mohammad Razeen (20). The accused as well as the victim are from Kerala.

The complaint regarding the ragging was registered in Mangaluru Rural Police Station. The accused who were arrested on Friday have been booked under IPC as well as Karnataka Education Act. (UNI)
