Kendrapada: Kendrapada Sadar police on Thursday arrested a truck driver on the charge of raping his 15-year-old girl.
Kendrapara S P Madkar Sandeep Sampat the arrest was made on the basis of the FIR lodged by the daughter.
The SP said girl lodged an FIR against her father Debaraj Dalai on October 6, 2020.
Debaraj (45) a truck driver of Tigiria area, was staying with her family at his in-law’s house in Bharatpur under Kendrapada Sadar police station. He allegedly raped her daughter on October 4 ,2020 while his wife was not present in the house.
Sadar police later registered a case under section 376(2)(f)(i), 354, 506 of IPC and started inquiry. But police failed to arrest the accused person as he was absconding.
Kendrapara SDPO Rajib Lochan Panda said Debaraj was arrested while executing the old warrants on the direction of IG (CR) Narasingh Bhol.
Debaraj Dalai, was produced before the SDJM court on Thursday and was remanded into Jail Custody, after his bail plea was rejected by court. (UNI)
