Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh finance minister Suresh Kumar Khanna has said despite the covid and disruption in economic activity due to partial corona lock down, the state achieved record tax and non tax revenue collection of Rs 8,272.55 crore in the month of May.
During the same month in 2020-21 the collection was Rs 5,829 crore and as compared to last fiscal the revenue recovery has increased by Rs 2,452,51 crore. The collection of tax revenue in May this year was Rs 8,136,27 crore which is 53 percent of the target for 2021-22.
In April this year the revenue realisation was Rs 11.196.49 crore against the target of Rs 13,175 crore l, the first month of the current fiscal 2021-22. During the same period in April last year the revenue recovery was only Rs 1,298 crore.
The finance and medical education minister Suresh Khanna said here on Friday that ``the positive growth in revenue recovery during the pandemic period is a welcome sign for the economy of the state. The collections from GST and VAT in May was Rs 2,771 .32 crore against Rs 1,939 crore in May 2020."
He said revenue from VAs this year in May was 2,286 crore against 1,266 crore in May 2020. He said the revenue from motor and vehicle tax was Rs 214, 76 crore in May this year.
Mr Khanna said the revenue from alcohol or from excise department in May was 2,136.86 crore against Rs 2,169 crore in May 2020. The revenue from stamps and registration in May was Rs 625.03 crore against Rs 349, 52 crore in May 2020, or Rs 275 crore more than last year. He said the revenue from the transport department in May this year was Rs 314, 62 crore against Rs 99, 86 crore in May 2020.
The finance minister said among the non tax revenue the collection from geology and mining in May was Rs 136, 28 crore which is 40, 3 percent of the target for the month of May in this fiscal. He said collection from mining in May 2020 was Rs 242.24 crore.
Mr Khanna, who is also the medical education minister, said the infections from the pandemic has been controlled to a large extent following the effective measures taken by the Yogi Adityanath government.
He said the experts apprehend that third wave of the pandemic is likely to occur in September/October which may be fatal for the children.
He said to cope with the third wave directives have been issued to all the state run medical colleges to set up 50 bed paediatric Intensive care unit and keep reserve 50 beds. (UNI)
