UP Board to evaluate Class 10, 12 results on basis of marks scored in Class IX, XI
, Thursday, 3 June 2021 (19:13 IST)
Lucknow: Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma on Thursday said results of Uttar Pradesh Board Class 10 and 12 will be evaluated on the basis of performance of the students in Class 9 and 11 respectively.

Also, for 12th class, the average of the class-10 board examination marks and their class-11 annual examination marks will be considered, he said.

"If the marks of class-11 annual examination are unavailable, then in that case the marks of class-12 pre-board examination will be considered. Institutional and individual candidates of Intermediate whose above marks will not be available, they will be promoted normally and only certificate of promotion will be given.

''All the registered candidates of Intermediate examination of the year 2021 will get an opportunity to improve their marks in the upcoming Intermediate examination in one subject or by appearing in the examination of all their subjects and these marks will be available for the Intermediate examination of the year 2021. Only points will be counted ", he added.

Dr Sharma said that the results of the cancelled high school examinations will be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in class-9 annual examination of the concerned candidates and the average of their class-10 pre-board examination marks.

Institutional and individual candidates of high school whose above marks are not available, they will normally be promoted to class-11. All the registered candidates of the high school examination of the year 2021 will get an opportunity to improve their marks in the upcoming high school examination as per their wish, in one subject or by appearing in the examination of all their subjects and this score will be the same as in the high school examination of the year 2021.

Dr Sharma informed that 29.94 lakh high school and 26.10 lakh intermediate students will be benefited by this decision.

"Now newly promoted students can pay full attention to the studies of their next class, and online classes can be started for the next class under the regularization of the session and the students who have passed class XII can get admission in higher educational institutions" he said.

The assessment method was announced after the cancellation of the UP Board Class 12 exams today. Last week, Class 10 exams were scrapped.

The examinations were cancelled due to covid-19 pandemic.

"In the extraordinary circumstances and in the interest of student-teacher along with a view to regularize the session, the board examination of class-12 of Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education, scheduled by the state government in the year 2021, has been cancelled. In XII Board examinations, 26,10,316 students were expected to appear," Dr Sharma said in a statement earlier in the day here.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the Department of Secondary Education is continuously taking action in the interest of the students.

"UP is the first state in the country which in the month of July last year itself, slashed the syllabus by 30 percent in view of the disruption in teaching due to the corona epidemic.  Since last year's lockdown, the Department of Secondary Education has ensured the education of children through Doordarshan, Swayam Prabha Channel, E-Vidya Channel, Virtual School and YouTube and e-Gyanganga of Secondary Education Council, along with online learning.

''Along with this, more than 29 lakh WhatsApp groups were formed for the principal, teachers and students and a regular monitoring system was made for the teaching and learning " he said, adding that the duration of the examination was limited to 15 days from last year itself and this year the number of examination centers was also increased to ensure social distancing.

Dr Sharma said that the preparations for conducting the examination had been completed by the Department of Secondary Education, but in view of the priority of safeguarding the health of students and teachers, the high school examination of the year 2021 was cancelled earlier and today the intermediate exams of the year 2021 were cancelled.
