Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday announced that the pension of destitute women in the state will be increased very soon.Yogi said, “In Uttar Pradesh, we are providing pension to 1.06 lakh destitute women. Currently, we are giving them Rs 12,000 annually”.“We have decided to increase this amount very soon. State Finance Minister Suresh Khanna will announce Mahashivratri,” the CM said.
The announcement is seen as a sop by the government in view of the 2027 assembly polls. Replying to the debate to the Governor’s address in the state assembly, Yogi Adityanath said, “People from the Samajwadi Party and Congress oppose Vande Mataram. Those who oppose Vande Mataram have no right to live on Indian soil. They should go to the places where it is opposed.”
He further said, “Due to their appeasement policies, the SP opposes the development of Ayodhya and Mathura. During their rule, the Kanwar Yatra was prohibited. We celebrated Deepotsav in Ayodhya, but the SP opposed it. Uttar Pradesh is a centre of faith in the country. The SP has failed to understand Uttar Pradesh. Development combined with heritage is a true renaissance.”
CM Yogi said, “There is opposition to the Ram temple in Ayodhya. There was opposition to Kashi Vishwanath temple, and there was opposition to Mathura and Vrindavan. The Janmashtami festival was stopped at the police station. The Kanwar Yatra was stopped.”
Pointing to the Samajwadi Party (SP), Yogi said, “You said there would be riots. You stopped the 84-kosi Parikrama of Ayodhya. You even protested the Deepotsav. The SP orders firing on kar sevaks. Remember, no one can imprison the eternal faith. Today, a grand Ram temple is ready in Ayodhya.”
He said, “We named Auraiya Medical College after Ahilyabai Holkar. PM Modi installed a statue there in Varanasi. When we improve it, the SP members have a problem. We should cultivate the habit of speaking the truth and seeing the truth.”
Slamming the SP rule in the past, CM Yogi alleged,”They glorified traitors and insulted national heroes. They supported Ghazi’s fair. Learn from Maharaja Suheldev how to avenge Ghazi’s sins. We have established a university in Azamgarh in his name”.
The CM said, “There have been no riots in Uttar Pradesh since 2017. Now there is no curfew, no riots; everything is fine in Uttar Pradesh. 60,244 police posts have been filled. No district has been left without a young person selected.”
The CM said, “Until 2017, the number of women in the police force in Uttar Pradesh was only 10,000; today, this number has reached 44,000. During your (SP) time, there was a saying: ‘Look, SP workers, the daughter is scared.'”
Taking a dig at the Samajwadi Party, he said, “You were saying that women could wear jewellery at night, but in your time, women couldn’t go out during the day. Today, women are working night shifts. UP is now a state of celebration, not violence.”
