Birmingham: Sagar Ahlawat, Jasmine Lamboria and Rohit Tokas joined the seasoned Amit Panghal as India confirmed seven medals in boxing at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
Debutant Sagar Ahlawat won his quarterfinal bout against Seychelles’ Keddy Agnes in the men’s super heavyweight category on Thursday to advance to the semifinal.
Lightweight pugilist Jaismine Lamboria beat Garton, who is a 2018 editions bronze medallist, in the quarterfinal by 4:1 split decision in the 60kg lightweight .
Whereas, Rohit Tokas, who turned 29 on August 1, notched up a dominating 5-0 win over Xavier Mata’afa-Ikinofo of Niue.
Earlier, Amit Panghal, Nikhat Zareen, Nitu Ghanghas and Mohammad Hassamuddin assured a medal for India after reaching the semifinal of their respective weight categories. (Inputs from agencies)
