Manpreet Singh, the captain of the men's hockey team, has got hitched amid all efforts to get Hockey India a medal in the Olympics. He married his fiancé Illi Siddiqui recently.
If sources are to be believed, Illi and Manpreet were love birds. Both knew each other for almost 8 years. The two met during the Sultan Johor Cup junior hockey tournament played in 2012. The tournament was played in Malaysia , the native country of Illi.
Congratulations poured in after the news of their marriage surfaced on social media. Team India also congratulated the duo by writing the caption "Vivah di vadhaaiyan" from their official Twitter handle.
Jalandhar residents Manpreet and Illi were married at the GTB Nagar Gurdwara. The wedding took place with the Corona Protocol in mind and only a select few were invited. Some former and some current players of the Indian hockey team were present during this marriage.
Six hockey players including Manpreet came out Corona positive. Due to which the boys did not want to take any risk at all. (WD)
