Bengaluru: Team India skipper Rohit Sharma said Shreyas Iyer is doing really well to fill the big boots of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane.

"He (Shreyas) has just carried on from the T20s and not gotten out a single time. This touch he also has carried into the Tests. He knew he was replacing Pujara and Rahane, big boots to fill, but he's obviously is doing it really well," he told the media after India wrapped up the two-match series 2-0 against Sri Lanka here.

On Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit said he is a complete package and he has been improving as a batsman at No. 7 which brings a lot to the team. "No doubt about him (Jadeja), we have seen him grow as a batsman. He seems to be getting better and better, at 7, which strengthens the batting, and he's a complete package, with his fielding and bowling, he brings a lot to the team," he said.

On Rishabh Pant, who scored a whirlwind 50 in the second innings, the fastest Indian to score a half ton in 28 balls surpassing Kapil Dev, who did it in 30 balls against Pakistan in Karachi in 1982, Rohit said, "He seems to get better with every Test, especially in these conditions. The England series (at home) was challenging, but looks like the confidence is back, with his catches and stumpings."

On Ravichandra Ashwin, who went past Dale Steyn's tally of 439 wickets, Rohit said he is the legend of the game as he gives match-winning performance every time he is given the ball. "He comes up with the goods every time the ball is handed to him. It's been challenging playing the pink-ball Test, but we are still learning on handling day and night conditions. The spectators coming back and celebrating with us has been so heartening," he said. (UNI)
