India women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana has officially addressed weeks of speculation surrounding her personal life, confirming that her wedding with music composer and filmmaker Palash Mucchal has been called off.
Mandhana shared the clarification through an Instagram story on Sunday — her first public response after ongoing rumours about the couple.
“Over the past few weeks there has been plenty of speculation around my life and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person and I would like to keep it that way but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off,” she wrote.
She further added:
“I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the same. I request you to please respect the privacy of both families at this time and allow us the space to process and move on at our own pace. I believe there is a higher purpose driving us all and for me that has always been representing my country at the highest level. I hope to continue to play and win trophies for India for as long as possible and that is where my focus will forever be. Thank you for all your support. It's time to move forward.”
The wedding was originally set for 23 November 2025 in Sangli, Maharashtra. But just hours before the ceremony, news broke that her father, Srinivas Mandhana, suffered a heart attack and had to be rushed to the hospital. The wedding was immediately postponed. Later, reports claimed that Palash’s health had also deteriorated due to stress.
Next day, Smriti removed her proposal video and other wedding-related posts from her social media accounts, sparking widespread speculation.
In the midst of the delay, Palash Muchhal found himself in fresh controversy when screenshots of his alleged flirty chats with a woman named Mary D’costa surfaced on social media. His name was also linked with their wedding choreographer Nandika Dwivedi adding fuel to the ongoing discussions around the postponed wedding.
