Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana continues to remain in headlines. After the sudden postponement of her wedding, it has now been confirmed that she will also not appear in the upcoming special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 17, where Amitabh Bachchan will honour the Women’s World Cup–winning team.
Team India to Shine on KBC — But Smriti Missing
This week’s KBC episode is set to be a special celebration. Amitabh Bachchan will felicitate the champion women’s cricket team that recently lifted the World Cup. The episode will feature captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Harleen Deol, Richa Ghosh, Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana, and head coach Amol Muzumdar.
However, the player, fans were most excited to see — Smriti Mandhana — will be absent from the episode.
Wedding Preparations, Then a Sudden Twist
Smriti had been in the news throughout the month, not just for her on-field performance but also for her wedding plans. She was scheduled to marry singer Palash Muchhal on November 23.
But just hours before the ceremony, news broke that her father, Srinivas Mandhana, suffered a heart attack and had to be rushed to the hospital. The wedding was immediately postponed.
Soon after, another surprising development surfaced — Smriti deleted all posts related to her wedding, including her proposal video. Her close friends Jemimah Rodrigues and Shreyanka Patil also removed the wedding announcement video from their profiles.
Fans Curious, Family Silent
Fans are now eager to know what exactly happened. Discussions are ongoing across social media, but Smriti and her family have maintained complete silence. Her father has been discharged from the hospital, but there is still no clarity about when — or whether — the wedding will happen.
Amid this personal turmoil, Smriti also skipped the KBC shoot, resulting in her absence from the special episode.
