Sangli :The District Forest Department in Sangli, Maharashtra, arrested two men for trapping three Cobra snakes at Battis-Shirala.

Sources said Vishal Ashok Pawar (29) and Harshal Prakash Vadar belonging to Walva were booked under the State Wildlife (Conversation) Act 1972 for catching and illegally keeping the snakes. There is a ban on catching snakes, the officials said as people celebrated Nagpanchami on the day.

Acting on a tip off, the forest officers earlier in the day raided a house in Kurlap village and seized the three cobras hidden inside the house.(UNI)
