The story of Amit Sehra, a vegetable vendor from Kotputli, Jaipur, Rajasthan, has captured everyone’s attention — not just for his incredible luck, but for his humility and loyalty to a friend who once helped him. Amit borrowed Rs 1,000 from his friend Mukesh, used it to buy a lottery ticket, and ended up winning a massive Rs 11 crore jackpot. Now, he has decided to return the kindness by gifting Rs 50 Lakh each to Mukesh’s two daughters.

Amit had travelled to Punjab to visit his friend Mukesh. While in Bathinda, he decided to try his luck at a local lottery shop. Short on cash, he borrowed Rs 1,000 from Mukesh and bought two tickets — one in his wife’s name and one in his own — for the Punjab State Lottery Diwali Bumper 2025, which carried a top prize of Rs 11 crore. Amit had told Mukesh at the time, “If I win Rs 11 crore, I’ll give Rs 1 crore to your daughters.”

Days later, after returning home to Rajasthan, Amit learned that his ticket had indeed won the Rs 11 crore jackpot. Overwhelmed with gratitude, he thanked God and kept his word to his friend.

Speaking emotionally to the media, Amit said he didn’t even have enough money to travel to Chandigarh to complete the formalities for claiming the prize. “This is truly God’s blessing — He has given me more than I could ever imagine,” he said. Amit plans to use the money for his two young children’s education and to build a house for his family.

True to his promise, Amit said he plans to give Rs 1 crore from his winnings to his friend’s two daughters. Comparing his story to a tale from mythology, Amit said, “Just like Lord Krishna helped his poor friend Sudama in the Treta Yuga, my friend helped me in my time of need.”
