Goa Police have arrested popular YouTuber and content creator Akshay Vashisht for spreading false and misleading claims about Manohar International Airport in Mopa, Goa. Vashisht was taken into custody in Delhi on Wednesday after a complaint was filed against one of his viral videos.
Video Claimed Mopa Airport Was Haunted
The controversial video, uploaded on Vashisht's YouTube channel and also shared on a Facebook page called RealTalk Clips, was titled "Goa's Haunted Airport." It claimed that the airport was built on an old cremation ground and was the site of paranormal activity.
The video went further, alleging that a mysterious woman in a red saree often appeared on the runway at night, sometimes scaring pilots into refusing take-offs. It also included a so-called testimony from a channel subscriber, who claimed to be an airport employee and reported witnessing several supernatural incidents.
Police Action
The case came to light when Suraj Shirodkar, a constable with Goa Police's Social Media Monitoring Cell, filed a complaint. Police said the video contained "false, malicious, and superstitious allegations" that could create unnecessary fear and panic among the public.
On September 15, an FIR was registered against Vashisht under sections 353(2) and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code.
