You should prepare the pouch after completing the Tulsi Vivah rituals or in the evening of the same day. Begin by performing the symbolic wedding of Lord Shaligram and Goddess Tulsi with devotion.

Spread a red cloth, and place the following items on it:

• A clean Tulsi root
• 11 or 21 whole rice grains (Akshat)
• A turmeric root
• Cowries (shells)
• A one-rupee coin

While preparing the pouch, chant “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya Namah” 108 times with full faith. After placing all items inside, tie the red cloth with a red thread to make a small pouch. Keep it for a while at the feet of Tulsi and Shaligram to seek blessings. 

Significance of Hanging the Potli at the Main Entrance

Hang this sacred pouch inside your main door, either on the right or left corner, in a discreet spot away from direct view. The main entrance is believed to be the gateway for wealth and energy in the home.

By tying this pouch, the entrance becomes a protective shield that attracts positivity and prosperity while preventing negative energy from entering your home.

Alternative Placements to Attract Wealth

If you prefer not to hang it on the door, you can place the pouch in the following locations:

• In your locker, cupboard, or wherever you keep money and valuables — it helps stabilize wealth and control unnecessary expenses.
• At your shop or office cash counter — it attracts profit and business growth.

When and How to Replace the Pouch

This pouch brings prosperity for the entire year and should be replaced on the next Tulsi Vivah.

Remove the one-rupee coin from the old pouch and keep it in your wallet or locker for continued blessings.
