NaMo, RaGa, Sonia, and Manmohan remember Nehru on children's day

New Delhi: Former President Pranab Mukherjee, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi on Thursday paid floral tributes to country's first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru on his birth anniversary at Shanti Van here.
Dr Mukherjee, Dr Singh, Ms Gandhi and Former Vice President Hamid Ansari attended  a commemorative programme to mark Pandit Nehru's birth anniversary at Shanti Van.
 
A statesman and a visionary Pandit Nehru was very fond of children and his birthday is also observed as children's day in the country as he was also popular amongst children as 'chacha' Nehru.
 
"We honour a man who fought ardently for India's Independence and envisioned a modern country with strong institutions & a concrete democracy. Pt Nehru showed India a new path which brought us where we are today. Let's pledge to uphold his legacy," Congress party said in a message on twitter remembering their great leader who was an institution builder.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday remembered India's first PM Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru on his birth anniversary.The PM paid tributes to Pandit Nehru in a message on the micro blogging site twitter."Tributes to our former PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary," Mr Modi tweeted.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday remembered country's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary.In a tweet, Mr Gandhi said, "On his birth anniversary, we remember our  first PM, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Ji, a statesman, visionary, scholar,  institution builder & one of the great architects of modern India,"  Mr Gandhi said. He also used the hashtag "RememberingNehruji".(UNI)
